Britain’s best supermarket has been revealed and it might surprise you


 

 

Aldi has beaten arch rival Lidl to be crowned supermarket king of Britain.It took the top gong at The Grocer ’s Gold Awards and also beat website Ocado which made the shortlist.

The budget chain, which has overtaken Waitrose to take 6% of market share, compared with the upmarket store’s 5.3%, also took the award for Own Label Range of the Year on Tuesday night.

Its Mamia baby brand adds to a previous tally of 40 own label prizes picked up at a Grocer awards ceremony in May.

Aldi UK boss Matthew Barnes said: The recognition by The Grocer Gold Awards provides consumers with the assurance that Aldi is the best supermarket in Britain.
