London Westminister attack: Woman wearing hijab was distressed, horrified, photographer says

The photographer who captured an image of a woman wearing a hijab walking past a victim of yesterday's London terrorist attack has defended her actions, saying she looked distressed and horrified. The woman has become the centre of a debate online, with many Twitter users claiming she was casually ignoring a victim lying on the ground. Freelance photographer Jamie Lorriman was underneath the Westminster Bridge at the time of the attack and began photographing at the scene moments later. Lorriman said the scene was quiet and tranquil, describing a strange sort of calm atmosphere. No-one was sort of screaming or shouting. He says the idea that the woman he photographed wearing the hijab was ignoring the scene as she was walking past was wrong, and a series of images demonstr...

Relationship expert weighs in on claims Donald and Melania Trump sleep in separate beds

A lot is said about couples who don’t sleep in the same bed, whether they have twin beds side by side or spend their nights in totally separate rooms. So the news that President Donald and First Lady Melania Trump reportedly sleep separately has garnered quite the reaction. It’s widely being claimed that this is Melania’s decision and that it shows how much she wants to avoid spending time with her husband - she is currently living miles away from the White House in New York but only so that their son Barron can finish the school year there. However apparently even when the Trumps are together, they sleep in separate bedrooms, an insider told US Weekly. But even if this is true, is it necessarily a bad thing? Does sleeping in separate beds mean a loveless relationship? Sle...

Terrorist’s chilling final words to hotel staff before Westminster attack

Westminster terrorist Khalid Masood told staff at a budget hotel I'm off to London tomorrow the night before his deadly rampage, according to reports. The attacker was a 52-year-old dad born in Kent who claimed to be a teacher. He had a string of convictions for violent crimes and was a Muslim convert fuelling fears he may have been radicalised in prison. Police confirmed he was once on MI5’s radar but was not being monitored before he mowed down dozens of pedestrians and stabbed a policeman to death on Wednesday. Terror group Islamic State has claimed responsibility and described Masood as one of its soldiers. Last night it was claimed Masood, who used a number of aliases, stayed alone at the £59-a-night Preston Park Hotel in Brighton before carrying out the attack. A sou...

Around 250 feared dead in Mediterranean

Over 250 African migrants were feared drowned in the Mediterranean Thursday after a charity’s rescue boat found five corpses close to two sinking rubber dinghies off Libya. The UN’s refugee agency (UNHCR) said it was ‘deeply alarmed’ after the Golfo Azzuro, a boat operated by Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms, reported the recovery of the bodies close to the drifting, partially-submerged dinghies, 15 miles off the Libyan coast. We don’t think there can be any other explanation than that these dinghies would have been full of people, Proactiva spokeswoman Laura Lanuza told AFP. It seems clear that they sunk. She added that the inflatables, of a kind usually used by people traffickers, would typically have been carrying 120-140 migrants each. In over a year we have never seen ...

Police swoop on flat in Olympic Village as part of London terror attack probe

Anti-terror police were today searching a flat in the heart of London’s Olympic Village as part of a major investigation into the Westminster terror attack. The tenant of the first-floor new-build flat in Stratford is believed to have previously lived with killer Khalid Masood, 52, at an address in Forest Gate. The swoop came as details of Masood’s past emerged. Born Adrian Elms to a single-mother in Rye, Sussex, he converted to Islam after a life of violent crime which saw him jailed in 2003 for stabbing a man in the face. According to the Sun, he spent his last night in a £59 hotel in Brighton before driving to the capital in a rented 4x4 to unleash carnage which last night led to the death of a fourth victim, age 75. Last night officers could be seen rifling through roo...
