Donald Trump in new sexism row as he praise about France first lady body shape

It may have been meant as a compliment, but whether Brigitte Trogneux, the wife of French president, Emmanuel Macron, appreciated being told she was in 'such good shape' was a matter of conjecture. The Irish journalist posted a video on Twitter describing the incident as a "bizarre moment", but did not appear to have been offended by the remark even if others thought it was blatantly sexist. To add insult to injury he repeated the comment to Emmanuel Macron, the French President before turning back to Ms Trogneux and remarking beautiful. Matters were probably not helped by the US President then inflicting his now notorious "yank and grip" on her as well. President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron his wife Brigitte Macron, are photogr...

Britain scorching 32C heat in next week

Parts of Britain are set to bake as they emerge from this week's rainy weather with another spell of hot and humid temperatures. Highs are predicted to hit a scorching 32C with hot air expected to sweep across the country early next week. Sunshine and blue skies could then hold out into next month, with the Met Office forecasting prolonged dry and warm spells. Before then, temperatures will pick up over the weekend with 29C possible across southern Britain and 22C in the north. Scotland will remain under a cooler airmass keeping things cooler with highs of around 16C. The very far north could turn cooler overnight with clear skies allowing temperatures to nudge low single figures. However the rest of Britain is about to welcome another scorcher. The Met Office said highs o...

The Home Office is considering tough new restrictions on corrosive substances after a new string of acid attacks in London, amid calls from one London MP for tougher sentences for possession of harmful acids. Overnight, a 16-year-old boy was arrested as police launched a major investigation into a series of acid attacks that took place in less than 90 minutes across east London on Thursday night, with one victim said to have suffered life-changing injuries. The Labour MP for East Ham, Stephen Timms, said carrying acid should be made an offence and suggested licensing the purchase of Sulphuric acid, l...

Brexit bill to cause constitutional clash with Scotland and Wales

Theresa May appeared to be heading for an explosive constitutional clash over Brexit on Thursday, after the Scottish and Welsh governments said they could not support the great repeal bill the key proposals drawn up to extricate Britain from the EU. The historic legislation, formally known as the European Union (withdrawal) bill, came under sustained attack after it was published on Thursday, with MPs and human rights campaigners, as well as leaders in Edinburgh and Cardiff, dismissing it as a Westminster power grab. Just hours after the government published the 66-page bill that will repeal the European Communities Act of 1972, and bring decades of EU law on to the UK statute book, the Scottish and Welsh leaders, Nicola Sturgeon and Carwyn Jones, rejected it. Campaigners ...
