M25 closed for hours after crash

Drivers on the M25 have endured severe delays near the Dartford Crossing on Tuesday after two lorries were involved in a serious crash.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show two lorries on their sides, with one having fallen down a roadside bank, and debris littering the motorway.

The cab on one of the HGV lorries appears to have been severely smashed in the collision.

Footage from the scene shows the two damaged lorries, with debris covering the road surface and pedestrians offering their assistance to those involved, Essex Live reports.

But the collision has resulted in both sides of the M25 being closed.

The crash has caused chaos for drivers on both sides of the M25 and on surrounding roads, including the A13 and A127.

At present, traffic has been stopped in both directions while the emergency services attend the crash. Traffic through the tunnels has also been stopped.

Traffic stopped in both directions approaching J31 and also through the tunnels. A force spokesman has also confirmed that no arrests have been made.
