British Army to patrol UK streets as threat raised to critical after Manchester bombing

Soldiers are being sent on to Britain’s streets to help the police and a second terror attack may be imminent following the Manchester concert bombing, Theresa May has said. The prime minister raised the threat level from severe to critical for the first time since July 2007, meaning “not only that an attack remains highly likely but a further attack may be imminent”. May said she did not want to unduly alarm people but military personnel would be present at public events and key sites under police command. She said it could not be ruled out that the attacker, named as Salman Ramadan Abedi, was working as part of a terrorist group. Speaking from Downing Street after an emergency Cobra meeting, May said the investigations of the security services and police have revealed it...

American news outlets confirmed that the information on Salman Abedi had been passed to them by US officials. Donald Trump has strongly criticized Iran over the arrival of Israel

Shared concern about Iran was driving Israel and many Arab states closer and demanded that Tehran immediately cease military and financial backing of "terrorists and militias", said Donald Trump in Israel. In stressing threats from Iran, Trump echoed a theme laid out during weekend meetings in Saudi Arabia with Muslim leaders from around the world, many wary of the Islamic Republic's growing regional influence and financial muscle. Trump has vowed to do whatever necessary to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians, dubbing a peace accord the ultimate deal. But ahead of his Holy Land visit, he gave little indication of how he could revive talks that collapsed in 2014. Trump received a warm welcome in Riyadh from Arab leaders, especially over his tough line on Tehra...

South Korea Military fires at North Korea drone

South Korea's military fired warning shots at a suspected drone from North Korea on Tuesday amid tension over Pyongyang's latest missile test which drew international condemnation and a warning from China. The incursion came with tension already high on the Korean peninsula after the North's test-launch of a ballistic missile test on Sunday which Pyongyang said proved advances in its pursuit of building a nuclear-tipped weapon that can hit U.S. targets. The United States has been trying to persuade China, North Korea's lone major ally, to do more to rein in North Korea, which has ...
