Britain queen wows in green at 90th birthday

Queen Elizabeth II marked her official 90th birthday yesterday by taking the salute at a special military parade in London where her vivid green outfit caused a sensation, reports AFP from London. After Trooping the Colour, members of the royal family appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a military flypast, including Prince William and Kate with their children George and Charlotte. Prince George, who is nearly three, waved at the planes as they flew by, while one-year-old Princess Charlotte, who was carried by Kate, blocked her ears. The parade featured almost 1,500 uniformed officers and their men as well as more than 300 horses. But it was the queen’s unusually bold dress and hat combination in a green so bright as to be almost fluorescent which caught the eye of many. ...

Ramadan 2016: How daily fasting impacts health

Over a million Muslims will be fasting across the UK this year (Picture: [copyright]) As the world’s one billion-plus Muslims gear up to fast over the next month during Ramadan - one of the five pillars of Islam - there is some concern this year may be particularly challenging with followers required to go without any food and water for some 17 hours a day as a test of personal strength and communication with Allah. However, if done right - and if Muslims have been preparing their minds and bodies in the run up to the holy month kicking off this week - Ramadan can, surprisingly, have many health benefits. Despite potentially feeling some heartburn, irritablity, dehydration, and a decline in concentration levels - which are expected - Dr Razeen Mahroof, an anaesthetist from...

The Prime Minister will be interviewed at length by Sky News' political editor Faisal Islam before Kay Burley invites questions from a studio audience which has been weighted to include inners, outers and the undecided. After a stronger start, the Remain campaign appears to have been losing ground in the opinion polls to Vote Leave as the Brexiteers have turned their focus towards immigration. For the first time, a telephone poll by ICM for The Guardian newspaper has suggested a 4% lead for Vote Leave (52%) over Stronger In (48%) once 'don't knows' are excluded. And now Sky News has been shown internal polling by Vote Leave which will...

PM hails extraordinary coalition as he joins Sadiq Khan in EU campaign

David Cameron hailed the extraordinary coalition rallied behind Britain remaining in the European Union as he campaigned alongside Labour's Sadiq Khan. The Prime Minister shook hands with the London Mayor and hailed the election of the proud Muslim and proud Brit just weeks after being accused of racist slurs against him. They joined forces to launch a five point guarantee card and a campaign battle bus as the PM sought to refocus attention away from increasingly public Tory dissent against his leadership. In a clear effort to steer public attention from the bitter battles dividing his own party, he said his appearance with Mr Khan was symbolic of the wider agreement across the political spectrum. "It has brought together this extraordinary coalition - Labour, Liberal, Con...

David Cameron facing most serious leadership coup of premiership as third Tory MP goes public

Sir Bill Cash, who chairs the European Scrutiny committee, told The Telegraph he has grown infuriated by the Prime Minister’s “monumentally misleading propaganda” and demanded a more conciliatory tone. The veteran Eurosceptic said he was “certainly considering” submitting a letter calling for a no confidence vote and gave the leadership 10 days to drop “inaccurate” warnings over leaving the EU. The warning came as a Tory MP issued a remarkable attack on the Prime Minister on live television by accusing him of having “lied profoundly” over the EU referendum. Nadine Dorries, a frequent critic of...
