David Cameron jump the queue to buy budget socks in JD Sports

A fellow shopper has accused David Cameron of jumping the queue to buy a budget multipack of socks in JD Sports. Footage showed the former Tory leader apparently being given special treatment in London's Oxford Street branch. It's less than a year since he was Prime Minister. Since then he's quit Parliament and been pictured at coffee shops, a funfair and out on the town. The eagle-eyed shopper said Mr Cameron was spotted by staff and served immediately while other customers waited in line. Flanked by two bodyguards, he can be seen in the footage taking the white socks to the cash desk to pay, before realising he has the wrong size. He then returns to the accessories rack to swap the socks before heading back to the cashier - allegedly being given special treatment. After ...

Conservatives slash election projections as Corbyn surge in polls continues

The Conservative party has reportedly revised down its internal projections for the general election after a clutch of new polls have shown their lead over the Labour party is narrowing. Estimations for the best case scenario have been revised by the Tories from a majority of 200 down to 80. The projection for the worst case scenario is a hung parliament, in which no party is able to get a majority, an idea which was initially inconceivable when Theresa May first called the election. The figures have resulted in a mood of annoyance verging on anger at Conservative Campaign Headquarters at Ms May who has been criticised for her performance during the election campaign, the Spectator reported. Mass brawl involving 50 people breaks out on BEACH as temperatures soared leaving teenage boy with head injury

A mass brawl involving around 50 people broke out on a packed BEACH in Kent as temperatures soared today. Emergency services rushed to reports of a 'punch up' in Margate at around 5.05pm. The air ambulance helicopter was forced to land on the sands amid the sunbathers - which is reported to have been supported by at least two other ambulances on the ground. A doctor and paramedic gave emergency treatment to a man at the scene who was then airlifted to the major trauma centre at King's College Hospital in London. The first pictures from the scene showed someone being stretchered away by paramedics. KentOnline reported that dozens of youngsters were involved in the fracas which police who rushed to the scene initially said was a 'disturbance' but later confirmed it was a lar...

May puts Manchester bombing at heart of election with attack on Corbyn

Theresa May has launched an extraordinary attack on Jeremy Corbyn, accusing him of saying Britain is to blame for the Manchester Arena bombing in a war of words that places the atrocity at the heart of the election campaign. The prime minister used a press conference at the end of her first G7 summit to resume her election campaign by directly targeting the Labour leader after he had said the war on terror was not working. I have been here with the G7, working with other international leaders to fight terrorism, May told reporters. At the same time, Jeremy Corbyn has said that terror attacks in Britain are our own fault and he has chosen to do that a few days after one of the worst terrorist atrocities we have experienced in the United Kingdom. I want to make something cle...

A cousin of the Manchester suicide bomber, who runs a barber shop, was being questioned in connection with the attack on Friday night, as police said they were confident they had identified much of the terrorist’s network. Armed officers raided his Fade’Away barber shop in the early hours of Friday morning and took away a number of items of interest. Pippa Middleton takes legal action after wedding menus appear on eBay

Pippa Middleton has reportedly taken legal action after menus from her wedding appeared on eBay. The news broke earlier this week that some attendee had apparently decided to sell on copies of the menu from the lavish wedding. A seller with the username ‘guarko84na’ advertised two cards both sharing the feast on offer at the Berkshire nuptials. One card has ‘James Matthews’ at the top, while the other has ‘Pippa Matthews’, indicating guests were given a slightly different menu depending on whether they were a guest of the bride or the groom. The three course meal included Berkshire Mayfly Trout to start, with a lamb main course and Glen Affric Cranachan Cheesecake. The starter pays homage to Pippa’s parent’s home, where the reception was held, in Berkshire. The cheesecake ...

How Far Should Societies Go to Prevent Terror Attacks

After the  the conservative writer and Iraq War veteran, published an article at National Review that harkens back to the Bush administration in several ways most objectionably in its attempt to use a kind of political correctness to advance the counterterrorism policies that he prefers. The article, The World Is Too Comfortable With Terror, eventually offers substantive arguments for those policy preferences. And they are worth grappling with on the merits: the author is an intelligent commentator opining earnestly on an important subject. But the article begins by priming the reader as follows: Make no mistake, there is an emerging bipartisan consensus that a certain amount of terrorism is just the price we have to pay to live the way we want to live. Now, to be clear, v...

Corbyn blames foreign policy for UK terrorism

Jeremy Corbyn is making a controversial return to election campaigning after the Manchester bomb attack with a speech blaming UK foreign policy for terrorism at home. The Labour leader claims the so-called war on terror is not working and is promising a government led by him would change foreign policy so it fights rather than fuels terrorism. But by choosing to talk about terrorism and linking it to UK support for wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria he is certain to be accused by opponents of exploiting the Manchester atrocity. Mr Corbyn has taken a calculated decision to resume Labour's campaign not by returning to Theresa May's social care u-turn or other domestic policies, but by speaking out on the sensitive issue of the Manchester Arena suicide bomb. His opposition t...

British Army to patrol UK streets as threat raised to critical after Manchester bombing

Soldiers are being sent on to Britain’s streets to help the police and a second terror attack may be imminent following the Manchester concert bombing, Theresa May has said. The prime minister raised the threat level from severe to critical for the first time since July 2007, meaning “not only that an attack remains highly likely but a further attack may be imminent”. May said she did not want to unduly alarm people but military personnel would be present at public events and key sites under police command. She said it could not be ruled out that the attacker, named as Salman Ramadan Abedi, was working as part of a terrorist group. Speaking from Downing Street after an emergency Cobra meeting, May said the investigations of the security services and police have revealed it...
