    Thousands of pounds in cash has seized by police during a raid on the home of a suspected gang member in Tower Hamlets. Some notes were found in bubble wrap. The money, all in £50 notes, was found inside a white envelope and cocooned in bubblewrap at the address in the E14 area. Tower Hamlets Police upload images of their find on social networking site Twitter today.

According to TV and radio British presenter Chris Evans, the Queen had revealed to her dinner guests at the Windsor Castle the one song that befittingly described herself.     East London is the hotspot for acid attacks and nearly a third of victims are Asian, a senior officer has said today. This squash bottle was found to contain a noxious substance. Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Craig Mackey also said officers were looking at potential links between London gangs and a recent spike in acid attacks but cautioned that the evidence was limited. He told the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee there were 455 acid offences recorded in London last year, with 63 per cent being assaults. He said 23pc were related to robberies and the rest were criminal damage, while the majority of victims were aged between 15 and 29 and nearly a third were Asian.     A five-year-old girl selling lemonade to revellers heading to a festival in east London had her stand shut down by council officers who slapped her father with a £150 fine. Andre Spicer said his daughter burst into tears and told him I’ve done a bad thing after enforcement officers read out a lengthy legal letter before issuing him the notice. The five-year-old and Mr Spicer, a professor at City University, were given the fine for trading without a permit after they set up the make-shift stall near their home in Mile End.
