  The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), will be observed today with due religious fervour    and solemnity. On this day in the Hijri year of 61, Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), along with his family members and 72 of his followers sacrificed their lives in the hands of Yazid's soldiers at Karbala desert. He stood for the supremacy of justice and righteousness. The day is a public holiday. Various religious and social organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.
