Joint statement on behalf of John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets and Cllr Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich: The Royal Borough of Greenwich and Tower Hamlets Council are disappointed by the latest delay in the Government reaching a decision on the Mayor of London's plans for the much needed Silvertown Tunnel. Both our Councils have always been keen to ensure that the Silvertown Tunnel should not have a detrimental impact on the environment. That is why we welcomed the Mayor of London's revised and improved plans for cleaner, greener public transport options and significant investments in pedestrian and cycling improvements in our boroughs and others. Our residents lives have been blighted by stationary vehicles stuck in queues at the Blackwall Tunnel f...

Are you allergic to alcohol

Hello! Magazine Alcohol is known to make people feel a little fuzzy, but if you experience other sensations, it could be more than just tipsiness taking over. If discomfort is common every time you drink alcohol, you could actually be suffering an allergic reaction and your body can't handle what you're pouring into it. Whether you discover you've inherited the trait, or it's simply developed over time, here are some key symptoms which indicate you're allergic to booze, as listed by dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra who appears on American TV show The Doctors. Histamines are chemicals in the immune system which work to fight off anything disrupting the body, in this case, allergens. Trump presses China on North Korea and trade while while Beijing visit

US President Donald Trump pressed China to do more to rein in North Korea on Thursday and said bilateral trade had been unfair to the United States, but praised President Xi Jinping's pledge that China would be more open to foreign firms. On North Korea's nuclear and missile programmes, Trump said China can fix this problem quickly and easily", urging Beijing to cut financial links with North Korea and also calling on Russia to help. Trump was speaking alongside Xi in the Chinese capital to announce the signing of about $250 billion in commercial deals between US and Chinese firms, a display that some in the US business community worry detracts from tackling deep-seated complaints about market access in China. Xi said the Chinese economy would become increasingly open and ...

Theresa May trying to Cabinet balance to immidiate replacement of Priti Patel with Brexiteer

Theresa May has been warned to promote another Brexiteer into the Cabinet to keep the balance of her top team in the wake of Priti Patel’s dramatic departure. The International Development Secretary, a prominent Brexit supporter, was effectively sacked on Wednesday for holding a string of unofficial meetings with senior Israeli figures without informing Downing Street. The weakened Prime Minister is now facing pressure from pro-Brexit Tories to replace Ms Patel with another Eurosceptic MP and to retain the balance of her Cabinet, which would tip in favour of Remain after Ms Patel's departure. Is Patel's resignation enough to restore May's authority? It comes after Ms May provoked outrage in her party by appointing former chief whip Gavin Williamson to replace Defence Secre...

In her first public message since her resignation, she thanked her friends, colleagues and constituents for the support they showed her. She wrote on Twitter: An enormous thank you to friends, colleagues, constituents & the public for the support & kindness you have shown me over the last few days. An enormous thank you to friends...

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have formally launched the Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree Express’s end-to-end immigration and customs services and flagged off the Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express service. The launch was the fulfilment of a long cherished dream and another happy occasion in Bangladesh-India relations, Hasina said at a press conference at the Ganabhaban on Thursday. I am also confident that these services would give a boost to cultural exchanges and tourism between our two peoples, she said. I hope this fine display of mutuality of our relationship will further strengthen our bilateral relations. Two rail bridges on the Bhairab and the Titas were also inaugurated on Thursday to speed up connectivity between Dhaka and Chittagong. Ha...

The chronic condition that could be the reason you can’t lose weight

The chronic condition that could be the reason you can't lose weight Imagine spending years trying to lose weight from the lower half of your body, but finding that no diet or exercise regime ever changed your shape. That is the reality for people who have lipoedema, which may affect as many as 11% of women to some degree. And, according to experts in the condition, many doctors don't even know it exists. Lipoedema is a chronic condition that causes an abnormal build-up of fat cells in certain areas typically the thighs, lower legs and bum, although it can occur on the arms as well. Men can develop lipoedema, but the majority of cases affect women (the limited research conducted so far shows that it is linked to female hormones) – and because it's still poorly understood, ...

Send your intimate images to Facebook to stop revenge porn

Facebook is testing a new method to stop revenge porn that requires you to send your own nudes to yourself via the social network’s Messenger app. This strategy would help Facebook to create a digital fingerprint for the picture and mark it as non-consensual explicit media. So if a relationship goes sour, you could take proactive steps to prevent any intimate images in possession of your former love interest from being shared widely on Facebook or instagram. Facebook is partnering with a Australian government agency to prevent such image-based abuses, the Australia Broadcasting Corp reported. If you’re worried your intimate photos will end up on Instagram or Facebook, you can get in contact with Australia’s e-Safety Commissioner. They might then tell you to send the images...
