British people are now applying for jobs in Poland

The Polish government have claimed that they will attract as many as 30,000 British jobs to its business-service sector this year. Following the outflow of more than a million Poles to Britain and other Western European countries, the government is trying to reclaim workforce with a multi-year 1 trillion zloty (£197 million) plan to boost innovation in its economy. Prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Monday that the country had spoken with more than 30 companies, some in the financial sector, about moving parts of their workforce from the UK following Brexit: Poles were moving to London, now companies from London are relocating their workplaces to Poland. The average salary in Poland's financial and accounting industry is around £20,500, according to the 2015 Antal S...

Switzerland rejects post-Brexit alliance with UK against EU

Switzerland may be outside the European Union, but the country is not looking for an anti-EU alliance with the UK, its foreign minister has said. Following Theresa May’s 12-point Brexit blueprint speech, Swiss foreign minister Didier Burkhalter said: We want good, maybe even closer ties with Britain. But we will not forge an alliance with Britain against the EU. This dashes the hopes of businesses that the countries could work together to negotiate with the EU over terms of access to the single market while being able to restrict freedom of movement. In interviews with several Swiss newspapers, Mr Burkhalter said the Government had approved a plan last June to adjust bilateral relations with the UK as a result of the Brexit vote. Mr Burkhalter said Switzerland is prepared ...

EU citizens could face new hate crime wave after Article 50 triggered

The UK could see a fresh rise in hate crime against EU nationals after Article 50 is triggered, a UK watchdog has warned. Great Britain saw a surge in hate crime in the months following the decision to leave the EU on 23 June 2016. British Prime Minister Theresa May has promised to trigger Article 50 before the end of March, which will untangle the UK's relationship with the bloc. The process is expected to take at least two years, although trade deals are expected to take far longer. But Article 50 could be triggered earlier after May outlined on 17 January plans to leave the single market in order to secure immigration controls and to remove the UK from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice. We are hugely concerned about what might happen in relation to an in...

Former Miss Italy contestant left horrifically scarred after boyfriend threw acid in face

A former Miss Italy contestant has been left horrifically scarred and could lose her sight after her ex-boyfriend allegedly threw acid in her face. Gessica Notaro, 28, is in a serious but stable condition after the horror attack as she left her house in Rimini on the east coast of Italy. She has suffered deep burns to the face and eye and is in a specialist unit in hospital. The acid also damaged her hip and leg. Police have arrested Gessica's ex-boyfriend, 29-year-old Jorge Edson Tavares. The pair met while working at the 'Delfinario' attraction, an aquarium which features dolphin shows. Facebook Gessica also had a career as a TV presenter after becoming a finalist in the 2007 Miss Italy competition. But Tavares, from Cape Verde, was issued with a harassment order after t...

Hungarian reporter who kicked migrants gets probation

The scenes took place as hundreds of migrants broke through a police line at a collection point close to the Serbian border. The Hungarian camerawoman who was filmed kicking and possibly tripping migrants along the country's border with Serbia was sentenced Thursday to three years' probation for disorderly conduct. Petra Laszlo, who appeared in the Szeged District Court by remote video from an undisclosed location, mounted a tearful defense and said she would appeal. Judge Illes Nanasi said Laszlo's behavior "ran counter to societal norms" and said the facts of the case did not support Laszlo's self-defense claim. The incident occurred near the border town of Roszke on Sept. 8, 2015, where Laszlo had gone to film migrants from the Middle East who were trying to pass throug...

Russia accuses Britain of anti Putin witch hunt plan

Russia has accused Britain of preparing an official witch-hunt against president Vladimir Putin's administration amid panic and hysterics over a loss of control in Europe. The Russian embassy to Britain posted online an extraordinary attack on the Government, accusing it of planning to brief Donald Trump's incoming United States administration against Moscow. It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May prepares for her first meeting with the US president-elect, expected in the spring, and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said Russia was up to all sorts of very dirty tricks such as cyber warfare. The embassy also speculated that the Government was seeking to rerun the Brexit referendum by claiming it was tainted by Russian influence and attacked the British intelligence services....

Most Westerners think we’re close to World War III

World War Three is just around the corner and the planet is teetering on the brink of all-out conflict according to people in major Western nations, at least. A new poll shows the public are somewhat gloomy about the future, fearing a “worldwide conflict” is looming. With superpowers backing different sides in the bloody conflict in Syria, Isis continuing to fight in the Middle East, a spate of terrorist attacks across the globe and Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump both talking a tough game, the YouGov survey of 9,000 people across nine countries found popular opinion thinks world peace has rarely been further away. People in the US were most likely to predict a world war, while French, German and British people were also pessimistic. Some 64 per cent of Americans think the...

Turkey identifies Istanbul nightclub attacker

The attacker who killed 39 people in a shooting at an Istanbul nightclub on New Year's Eve has been identified, the Turkish foreign minister has said. Mevlut Cavusoglu did not name the suspect, who remains at large, in a televised interview with Turkish state-run news agency Anadolu on Wednesday. Investigators have previously released photos of the alleged gunman, and Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said on Monday that the authorities have records of his fingerprints. Turkish police conducted a series of raids in the Aegean port city of Izmir overnight on Tuesday, arresting five men thought to have links to terror group Isis, but did not catch the perpetrator of the seven-minute long massacre in Istanbul's Reina nightclub. The gunman is thought to have been living in...

Sweden’s six-hour working day is too expensive and could be scrapped

A two-year pilot scheme among Gothenburg nurses showed employees felt healthier, which reduced absences, and that patient care improved - but costs were too high Sweden’s experiment with a six-hour work day may be doomed after a two-year experiment showed that the costs outweigh the benefits. Sixty-eight nurses at an old people’s home in Gothenburg, saw their eight-hour days cut in a bid to improve staff satisfaction, health and patient care. Preliminary results of the pilot scheme concluded that it achieved all of these aims but the city had to employ an extra 17 staff, costing 12m kroner (£1.4m), Bloomberg reported. City officials have decided not to make the scheme permanent because of fears costs could spiral out-of-control. It's associated with higher costs, absolutel...

ISIS planning mass attack in Britain and has no moral barrier to using chemical weapons

ISIS is planning a mass casualty attack against Britain, with no moral barrier to using chemical weapons, a minister has warned. Security minister Ben Wallace said the chemical threat was the potential realisation of everybody's worst fear. Wallace said there were reports of IS using chemical weapons in Syria and Iraq, where it controls large areas, and that Moroccan authorities apprehended a cell in February which was harbouring substances that could be used to either make a bomb or a deadly toxin. Mr Wallace said: Experts have warned that their ambition is a mass casualty attack and they have no moral barrier to using whatever means possible. It came after he told the Sunday Times: The ambition of IS or Daesh is definitely mass casualty attacks. They want to harm as many...
