Trump’s affair silenced Melania

Over the past week, Melania Trump, a notoriously private first lady, made three very public decisions: She canceled a trip abroad with the president, made an impromptu visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum and flew to Mar-a-Lago, where she spent part of her short trip relaxing at the spa. As usual, Mrs. Trump’s movements turned into something of a political Rorschach test. Did her movements symbolize a simple need to unwind, a deep displeasure with her role or both? Aides to Mrs. Trump say that she is focusing on her role and her family. But her relative silence and independent travel in recent weeks is set against a salacious backdrop: A Wall Street Journal report that the porn star Stormy Daniels was paid $130,000 just before the 2016 election to keep quiet abou...

Secret Brexit report piles pressure on the PM

Theresa May is facing fresh turmoil among her own MPs and Cabinet ministers as divisions deepen in the Government over Brexit. She faces the embarrassment of a secret study on the impact of Britain leaving the European Union meant only for ministers being leaked. It finds that the country will be worse off under every scenario modelled, with the much-hailed benefits of new trade deals predicted to add just 0.3% to GDP in the long-term. And The Times is reporting that some senior Tory party donors want her to quit. While Liam Fox has told hardline Tory Leavers they will have to live with disappointment and accept a softer Brexit. The International Trade Secretary hit out at those badmouthing the Prime Minister, saying they would have to live with disappointment of...

Trump reacts to Meghan’s claims

Meghan Markle famously branded then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump "divisive" and a "misogynist". Now President of the United States, Trump has finally had his say on the former Suits actress's scathing attack on his character. In an interview with Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, Trump revealed he has not been invited to the Royal Wedding in May. But he dodged questions on whether he was bothered about being snubbed by Meghan and fiance Prince Harry. Trump replied "not that I know of" when asked if he has been given an invite to Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel. Harry's nuptials with the American actress have captured the imagination of her compatriots and will be seen to strengthen the bond between the UK and the US. But Markle has been a vocal ...

Cape Town water crisis deepens

Cape Town is on track to turn off the faucets earlier than anyone predicted. The coastal city, one of Africa's most popular tourist destinations, is grappling with the worst drought conditions it has faced in over a century. City dams are now 27.2% full. When they reach 13.5% capacity, the city says it will be forced to move to a bucket-brigade-style system of water distribution. Credit raters, politicians, and scientists are all voicing concern about what will happen if the city becomes the first global hub forced to shut off its taps. On Monday, Moody's Investors Service issued a report predicting that the impending move to ration water would deal a major blow to Cape Town's economy. Two of Cape Town’s main industries, tourism and agriculture, are likely to decli...

May’s Brexit bill flawed, say peers

The EU withdrawal bill is fundamentally flawed and needs to be rewritten in several ways, peers have said, as the House of Lords prepares to debate the legislation this week. The Lords constitution committee said that the bill as it currently stands risked undermining legal certainty and should be substantially changed, even though it already been voted through the House of Commons. The bill will be subject to fierce debate when it reaches the Lords on Tuesday and Wednesday, with remain-supporting peers expected to vote for a motion of regret that the public is not getting another say over Brexit. Ahead of that battle, the committee recommended major changes that could be debated at a later stage of the bill’s passage through the second chamber. The purpose of the...

Common back pain myths you need to stop believing

Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, supposedly affecting as many as one in ten people. However, the exact causes of lower back pain are not always clear, and it's not uncommon for osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and even GPs to come up with some pretty out-there hypotheses as to why someone may be suffering. Having said that, there are a few myths that floating around that really need to be busted. Here, our osteopath Anna Roberts takes a closer look... Myth 1: It's your posture Bad posture has been drilled into society as being a terrible thing. Many modern interventions always seem to be focused on correcting posture such as desk-based assessments. But the link between posture and pain really isn't clear-cut. In fact, po...

World’s smallest woman meets world’s tallest man for incredible photoshoot in Egypt

The worlds tallest man and shortest woman have met in Egypt for an incredible photoshoot.   And the difference between them is just astonishing as in one photo Amge looks to be the same size as Kosen's foot. According to the Guinness World Records, Sultan Kosen, 35, from Turkey is the tallest man on the planet measuring a massive 8ft 1in. And Jyoti Amge, 24, from India, has been named the shortest woman at just over 2ft tall. They both won their records in 2011. The pair posed for photographs in front of the Pyramids after being invited by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board. And they can be seen putting their differences aside as they pose side by side with big smiles on their faces. Kosen, 35, was the first person to be measured by the record organisation in...

One of the world’s oldest gorillas dies at age 60

Vila died surrounded by members of her family troop One of the world’s oldest gorillas has died at San Diego Zoo Safari Park. The park says Vila, who turned 60 in October, died on Thursday surrounded by members of her family troop. Authorities say she was the matriarch of five generations of gorillas and during her life served as a surrogate mother for several western lowland gorillas. Gorillas typically live to be 35 or 40. They are considered critically endangered because of disease, hunting, war and habitat loss. Vila had arthritis and other health conditions related to her age and had been under veterinary care. She was born in the African Congo in 1957. She came to the zoo in 1959 and was moved to the safari park in 1975.

Donald Trump not invite to the Royal wedding

Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle are seen during a walkabout at Cardiff Castle When Morgan said Ms Markle had called him divisive and a misogynist, Mr Trump responded: Well, I still hope they're happy. On Brexit, the President said he was unsurprised by the result of the Brexit referendum because Britons don't want people coming from all over the world into Britain and claimed the European Union was not cracked up to what it's supposed to be. He also said he would have negotiated Brexit with a different and tougher attitude to Theresa May. Would it be the way I negotiate? No, I wouldn't negotiate it the way it's (being) negotiated... I would have had a different attitude, he said. I would have taken a tougher stand in getting out. Prince Harry and Megha...
