PM Narendra Modi says we already have taken revenge for Uri attack

We must not let ourselves be baited into a fight that can only damage us, we must not allow ourselves to blindly hate an entire people. In a masterstroke of political judo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out in his thumping speech on Saturday, that Pakistan has failed its people. He laid down the gauntlet for India to fight Pakistan on a front where everyone wins by challenging them to a race against poverty and unemployment. He also made the critical and important distinction between the mostly innocent people of Pakistan and its monster of an army and state. If we wish to do justice to the martyrs at Uri, and to the thousands of brave young soldiers that have given their lives for the nation, we must first understand what they died for. Our soldiers did not die def...

Saudi women demand end to male guardianship

The system is the 'most significant impediment' to women's rights in Saudi Arabia, HRW tells IBTimes UK. A Saudi woman has delivered a petition to the government calling for an end to the Gulf kingdom's male guardianship system. The petition has been signed by more than 14,000 Saudi women. Women face severe restrictions in the ultra-conservative nation where – despite being adults – they must obtain permission from a male guardian to travel abroad, marry and even be released from prison. They can also be required to provide approval to work and or access health care, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW). On Sunday (25 September), people sent telegrams to King Salman to abolish the male guardianship system – something which Saudi Arabia pledged to do in 2009 and 2013. The ...

First presidential debate was held in the struggle for democracy Economy: Employment, Tax, and discuss security

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton shake hands prior to the start of the Presidential Debate at Hofstra… Trump responded by saying that his business acumen was exactly what the country needs now: We have a country that’s doing so badly, that’s being ripped off by every single county in the world. That’s the kind of thinking that our country needs. The debate turned unusually contentious even in its first half-hour, with Trump repeatedly interrupting Clinton, and Clinton telling Trump, Donald, I know you live in your own reality. At one particularly unusual moment, about 25 minutes in, Trump attacked Clinton for posting her plan to fight the Islamic State on her website. That, he said, was not something that Gen....

Brexit despite business growth: Banks worried by low rates

The Telegraph Britain’s finance firms did increasing amounts of business over the summer but remain worried by ultra-low interest rates and the Brexit vote, according to a study by the Confederation of British Industry and PwC. By contrast manufacturing businesses are undergoing “an industrial renaissance” according to industry group the EEF. Profits grew at 37pc of finance firms and fell at only 13pc over the three months to September, the CBI’s study found, indicating growing prosperity in the financial services industry . Similarly 48pc said business volumes increased over the past three months, outnumbering the 13pc which suffered a fall in work levels. Despite that apparent growth, financiers remain downbeat and expect the improvements to slow down in the coming quart...
