Putin says Russian army capable of more in Syria

President Vladimir Putin said Russia "won't suck up to anybody" in the trailer of a documentary released on Saturday, December 19.. The Russian armed forces have not employed all their capability in Syria and may use "more military means" there if necessary, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday, hours after signing up to a UN roadmap to peace in the war-torn country. "We see how efficiently our pilots and intelligence agents coordinate their efforts with various kinds of forces – the army, navy and aviation, how they use the most modern weapons," Russian news agencies quoted Putin as saying. "I want to stress that these are by far not all of our capabilities," he said. "We have more military means. And we will use them – if need be." Russia launched a bombing cam...

What happens when the most advanced fighter jets in the U.S., France and Britain prepare for war

A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor, a British Royal Air Force Typhoon, and a French air force Rafale fly in formation Dec. 7 as part of a the Trilateral Exercise held at Langley Air Force Base, Va… JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — The rumble started early Tuesday, as one fighter jet after another ascended from a runway here near the Atlantic Ocean and into a bright, clear sky. The mission: Prepare for war against potential adversaries like Russia, which is now patrolling the same skies as the United States over Syria and flexing its muscles in eastern Europe. The first-ever Trilateral Exercise between the United States, France and Britain has been in planning for several years, but began Dec. 2 over coastal Virginia with a decidedly real-world feel. The U.S Air Force’s F-22 Rapt...

Camel kiss sparks dispute, call for divorce

A huge family dispute erupted in Saudi Arabia after a man’s wife kissed a camel said Gulf News. The man’s mother accused her daughter-in-law of breaking religious and social traditions and pressured her son to divorce his wife. The wife insisted that the kiss was innocent and spontaneous. She also accused her mother-in-law of using the kiss as an excuse to attack her because she had not yet given birth to a baby. She insisted to move back to her parents’ home while the situation and accusations intensified. Despite attempts by his mother to instigate problems, the man refused to divorce his wife whom he be-lieved did nothing wrong. The wife agreed to return to her husband, but insisted they not live with his mother in the same house. She said she looked forward to living a...

U.N. Security Council Endorses Roadmap For Peace In Syria

U.N. Security Council members approved a resolution Friday outlining a peace process for Syria involving talks by representatives of the Damascus government and the opposition, but the draft says nothing on the critical issue of what role President Bashar Assad will play. The resolution acknowledges that the peace process will not end the conflict because it bars "terrorist groups" operating in the country, including the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front, from participating in a cease-fire. Foreign ministers from 17 countries met on and off for more than five hours to overcome divisions on the text. The resolution has been described as a rare gesture of unity on the Syria peace process by a council often deeply divided on the crisis. The draft resolution, obtained by The As...

Virginia Schools Shut Over Arabic Assignment

Authorities in Virginia have closed schools on Friday after a high school geography assignment triggered allegations that students were being indoctrinated into Islam. In a statement on the Augusta County School District website, officials said the decision to shut 23 schools was made because of the "tone and content" of emails and phone calls made by parents. The statement read: "Following parental objections to the World Geography curriculum and ensuing related media coverage, the school division began receiving voluminous phone calls and electronic mail locally and from outside the area. "As a result of these communications, the Sheriff's Office and the school division co-ordinated to increase police presence at Augusta County schools and to monitor those communications...

The 27-year-old former militant, named as Harry S, said he and other foreign fighters had been asked if they would “bring jihad to their homeland”. “They want something that happens everywhere at the same time,” he said. The Queen takes train to Sandringham to kick start Christmas holidays

She's just like one of us – almost. The Queen shunned royal transport on Thursday morning to take an ordinary passenger train to Norfolk, where she will be spending the Christmas period at her country estate Sandringham. But unlike other commuters, Her Majesty was, naturally, given VIP treatment and a first class carriage was cordoned off for herself and her husband Prince Philip. As they do most years, the royals took the 10:44am train from King's Cross in north London to King's Lynn in Norfolk. The small train station is located just a few minutes' drive from Sandringham. Eager to kick start the Christmas holidays, the Queen was all smiles as she arrived at King's Cross in the morning. The 89-year-old monarch wrapped up from the winter chill in a blush pink coat and carr...

Putin praises Donald Trump as bright and talented

Vladimir Putin's view, Donald Trump is "bright and talented." MOSCOW — In Vladimir Putin's view, Donald Trump is "bright and talented." But as much as those words sound overtly like praise, there are some murky nuances. The most unequivocally favorable part of the comments the Russian leader made Thursday to a scrum of reporters after his annual year-end news conference was about the Republican presidential aspirant's claims that he wants to improve relations with Russia. "He says that he wants to move to another, closer level of relations. Can we really not welcome that? Of course we welcome that," Putin said. Trump hasn't given details about he would go about achieving that, relying instead on his fireproof self-regard. "I think that I would probably get along with him v...
