Rickshaw driver charges £206 for journey down Oxford Street

    A rickshaw driver has been filmed trying to charge tourists more than £200 for a journey of one mile that look less than 10 minutes. YouTube footage showed the rickshaw cyclist arguing that the fee had been agreed and his customers must pay. The mother and her son, who appeared not to speak very good English, had already handed over £100. The incident was filmed by a black cab driver, who was outraged. Two policemen are seen intervening to tell the cyclist that he was “ripping off” the tourists. The man was not doing anything illegal because there are currently no regulations for rickshaw rides, and drivers can charge customers what they like.     Armed police have this afternoon (22nd July) raided premises in Whitechapel Road. The premises appeared to be in Court Street, a small cul de sac to the north of Whitechapel Road, near the Tube station. Passers by observed nine armed police officers. One also had a standard police battering ram and one had a crosbar. Three men were taken away by the police. Two were of Asian appearance and one of African appearance. The three were handcuffed.

    Seven people have been injured after a London double-decker bus crashed into a bridge. The roof was sliced off in the incident, which happened in Norwood, south London, at around 9.15pm on Saturday.     An aggressive squirrel was 'arrested' by the German police after a woman complained that the rodent was following her around, reports NDTV. According to the report, the police received an unusual emergency call from a young woman in Bottrop in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), complaining that while walking down the street in the West German city, she found herself being chased by the squirrel.
