President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages on the eve of the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair-2018, have called upon all to make effective contribution to saving the green for preserving environment and biodiversity.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the electronic payment system for disbursement of the allowances of Social Safety Net programmes. The PM inaugurated the system through a videoconference from the Ganobhaban yesterday. Under the system, more than 6.6 million beneficiaries would directly draw the money every month from banks after getting the message through mobile phones. Addressing the function, the Prime Minister said, these allowances are just to ensure that no one suffers from starvation, but nobody should stay away from work.

The International Crimes Tribunal yesterday handed down the death penalty to four persons accused of committing atrocities during the War of Liberation in 1971.
