Double murder suspect arrested

A 21 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a daughter and mother. West Midlands Police said the man was arrested in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham on suspicion of murdering Raneem Oudeh, 22, and her mother Khaola Saleem, 49.

The women were fatally stabbed in Northdown Road, Solihull in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.

Detectives revealed the mother and daughter were on the phone to police as they were attacked.

Ms Oudeh had made multiple calls to emergency services that night but police struggled to locate the pair until a later call where the situation escalated and officers were dispatched, arriving within minutes.

They were treated by paramedics for their wounds, but were pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield who is leading the investigation, said: I would like to thank the community for their support over the last few days, the response to our appeals has been excellent and tonight resulted in this arrest.

A statement from West Midlands Police confirmed: Police searching for the suspect in the double murder in Solihull have arrested a man.

They added: Officers have been working tirelessly around the clock and have acted swiftly on any information that has come in over the last few days.

The family have been kept fully updated by this development.

A reward of £5,000 was being offered by independent charity Crimestoppers for information about a man wanted for the murder.
