Trump responds to Mueller indictments by blaming Obama

Donald Trump has commented for the first time on the indictment of 12 Russians by special counsel Robert Mueller, choosing to blame Barack Obama for not doing something about election interference including the hacking of Democratic party emails. Trump will meet Russian president Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday. On Saturday, from Scotland, the US president tweeted: The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration. Why didn’t they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election? According to widespread reporting and Obama aides including vice-president Joe Biden, chief of staff Denis McDonough and s...

British people have a fluid sexuality

Fluid sexuality refers to people who do not identify as completely straight on the Kinsey Sale a rating scale which identifies seven variants of sexuality from exclusively heterosexual to exclusively homosexual. Research released today has shown that 26 per cent of UK adults identify as something other than completely heterosexual. This rises to a third 35 per cent of those aged 35-44 and more than half of those aged 18-24. The survey of 2,000 UK adults was carried out by YouGov. It also highlighted that 60 per cent of Brits including a staggering 85 per cent of those aged 18-24 and even 48 per cent of those aged 55 and over believe sexuality should be viewed on a scale, rather than people being simply gay or straight. It tells a very different story to the data co...

Trump meets the Queen at Windsor Castle

Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump met the Queen for tea at Windsor Castle as tens of thousands of people protested his visit to the UK on the streets of London. The US president and his wife were treated to a Guard of Honour as they arrived at the royal residence on Friday afternoon after keeping the monarch waiting for several minutes. The US President did not bow as he shook hands briefly with the Queen on the dais, and the First Lady did not curtsy as she shook the head of state's white gloved hand. She smiled as shook hands with the president and Mrs Trump before they stood in a line for the US national anthem The Star Spangled Banner. Mr Trump was then invited to inspect the guard of honour in their red suits and bear skins. She hosted tea for Mr Tru...

John Lewis balcony plunge leaves teen fighting for life after falling 60ft

A teenage girl is fighting for her life in hospital after falling 60ft from a balcony at John Lewis. The 19-year-old fell from the upper level to the ground floor and is currently being treated for ‘desperately serious’ injuries. She is understood to have fallen from the internal balcony inside the store in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. Police and paramedics were called to the department store at 7.20pm last night. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now investigating how it happened, the Manchester Evening News reports. A GMP spokesman said: At around 7.20pm we were called to a report a female who had fallen from the upper level of John Lewis onto the ground floor. The police and ambulance service attended. Her injuries are desperately serious. We are now invest...

Why Trump protests will have no effect

When I lived in the UK for a short period, I heard more negative remarks about Donald Trump than I ever did while living in the America. Sometimes, it felt as if US politics was the UK’s version of trashy TV. My English friends liked to gripe about Trump endlessly by their own admission, it was hard for them to peel their eyes away from the screen. For America, a world with Trump isn’t something we can choose to turn off; it’s a show that we have to watch for 922 more days (at least), and we all know its not likely to have a happy ending. Don’t get me wrong; I feel the same way as the many angry protesters. Regularly when I see a headline with Trump’s latest inflammatory statement, I think to myself: this is the man chosen to represent the country I so proudly call...

Prince Harry just said the funniest thing about having kids

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have both made it pretty clear that they want kids, and the adorable antics of Prince George and Princess Charlotte at baby brother Prince Louis's christening may have given their fans a case of baby fever. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex just finished up a visit to Ireland where a well-wisher asked about the couple's baby plans. As People reports, while Harry and Meghan were greeting fans, a woman named Elaine Adam-Stewart asked Harry, My husband also has red hair and he gave me five children when are you and Meghan going to get going? Adam-Stewart told People that Harry laughed and replied, Five children?  too many. Just after the couple got engaged in November, they sat down with the BBC and were asked if they had plans to start ...

Trump and Melania touch down at London Stanstead Airport

Donald Trump and Melania Trump arrive at Stansted Airport President Donald Trump has touched down on British soil for the start of his divisive four-day visit that has sparked outrage in Parliament and mass protests around the country. The President and First Lady waved and smiled at cameras from the steps of Air Force One as they disembarked at Stansted Airport on Thursday evening. Mr Trump appeared cheerful and calm as he descended onto the tarmac after flying in from Brussels fresh from a fierce row with American allies at a Nato summit. This UK trip his first official one since becoming president has been dogged with plans for tens of thousands of protesters to march through central London in condemnation of his controversial leadership. And the fact that the ...

Novichok victim speaks to police

Novichok nerve agent victim Charlie Rowley has 'briefly' spoken to police as officers try to discover what poisoned him and his partner Dawn Sturgess. Medics at Salisbury District Hospital said last night there has been a small but significant improvement in his condition and he has now spoken to detectives. The 45-year-old was poisoned along with Ms Sturgess, who died on Sunday, by the same nerve agent used in the attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in March. In a statement, Scotland Yard said this morning: Officers from the investigation team have spoken briefly to Charlie and will be looking to further speak with him in the coming days as they continue to try and establish how he and Dawn came to be contaminated with the nerve agent. An...

Britain bracing for third general election in five year

It took the UK prime minister less than 12 hours to appoint Dominic Raab as the new Brexit secretary after David Davis resigned overnight amid criticism of Theresa May’s new proposals for a deal with the European Union. But the swiftness of the replacement does little to conceal the scale of the schism within her Conservative Party and the threat to her leadership. Another general election isn’t a left-field proposition. Current and former politicians have been floating the idea: Sure, this may seem like standard political tussling from the opposition. But even May’s loyalists seem to be suggesting that she should soon face a leadership challenge. The result of that will make it clear that she no longer has enough votes in parliament to pass the Chequers deal, som...

Trump expects to find UK in turmoil

Donald Trump, with first lady Melania Trump, speaks with reporters before boarding Marine One on the South Lawn on Tuesday. Donald Trump expects to see a country in turmoil when he lands in the UK on Thursday for a two-day visit he said would make his subsequent summit with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki seem easy. The president spoke to reporters on the south lawn of the White House on Tuesday morning, before boarding Marine One to begin his trip to Europe, which will begin with a Nato summit in Brussels. He repeated familiar criticism of Nato and spoke warmly of Boris Johnson, the British foreign secretary and Brexit leader who resigned from the government of Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday. Trump said Johnson had been very nice and very supportive. It’s going t...
