Trump quickly ties Florida shootings to Islamists

In the wake of the deadliest shooting in US history, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wasted little time suggesting the attack was tied to Islamist militants, while his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton initially did not make that connection. As President Barack Obama today addressed the nation about the incident that killed 50 people and wounded 53 at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Trump assailed him for his longstanding refusal to refer to Islamic State and other extremist groups as in part representing the religion of Islam. Is President Obama going to finally mention the words radical Islamic terrorism?, Trump tweeted as the president was speaking. If he doesn't he should immediately resign in disgrace. Trump in a later tweet claimed the gunman shouted Allah ...

Islamic State Claims Worst Shooting In US History

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the Orlando nightclub shooting, which killed 50 people and injured 53 others, according to the Amaq news agency, which is tied to the group. The attack is the deadliest mass shooting in US history, eclipsing the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre which left 32 people dead. "The armed attack that targeted a gay nightclub in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter," Amaq said. The Islamic State claim comes after US media reported that a man, suspected to have been the gunman, swore allegiance to IS in a 911 call around the time of the attack. He also reportedly mentioned the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, according to CNN. A number of offi...

Meet the 10 months old who is the spitting image of Prince George

A baby boy has left members of the public doing a double take because of his striking resemblance to Prince George. Alfie Simmons-Ronco, ten months, has the same blond hair and brown eyes as the third-in-line to the throne, and even shares George's cheeky personality too. Speaking to HELLO! Online, Alfie's mum Fabiana Ronco said she first noticed the resemblance when strangers began to approach her on the street to tell her how much her son looked like the two-year-old Prince. Fabiana said: People started to comment on Alfie's resemblance to George six or seven weeks ago. Whether I'm in Tesco's, the bank or just out shopping, people say to me that he resembles Prince George, which I think is lovely but he's very much his own person. The similarities between Alfie and Georg...

David Cameron says he will not stand down even if he loses the EU referendum

Provided by The Independent David Cameron tells Andrew Marr a vote for leave would mean a 'lost decade for Britain' (Jeff Overs/BBC/Handout) David Cameron says he will stay on as Prime Minister until the end of this Parliament, regardless of how Britain votes in the EU referendum. Speaking on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, Mr Cameron hinted he would reshuffle his Cabinet to give greater power to pro-Brexit Conservatives in the event of a vote to leave. Asking about what the Government would look like if the Prime Minister loses the argument on 23 June, Andrew Marr said: “You have said two things: that you will stay on as Prime Minister – presumably until the end of this Parliament… And that you will carry out the wishes of the British people. To both statements, Mr Cameron re...

Russian sports minister bizarrely claims there was NO crowd trouble after Russia’s draw with England

Provided by Mirror Deluded Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko has claimed there were no clashes between fans after England drew 1-1 with Russia on Saturday night. Three Lions goalkeeper Joe Hart urged supporters in the crowd to stay safe after Russian fans broke through the minimal segregation and perpetrated a coordinated attack on the England support inside the Stade Velodrome following running battles on the streets of Marseille earlier during the day. UEFA confirmed this morning that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Russia for crowd disturbances, use of fireworks and racist behaviour. But Mutko, who infamously claimed for 97 breakfasts during a three-week official visit to Canada and has been accused of being complicit in state-sponsored Russian dopi...

Britain queen wows in green at 90th birthday

Queen Elizabeth II marked her official 90th birthday yesterday by taking the salute at a special military parade in London where her vivid green outfit caused a sensation, reports AFP from London. After Trooping the Colour, members of the royal family appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a military flypast, including Prince William and Kate with their children George and Charlotte. Prince George, who is nearly three, waved at the planes as they flew by, while one-year-old Princess Charlotte, who was carried by Kate, blocked her ears. The parade featured almost 1,500 uniformed officers and their men as well as more than 300 horses. But it was the queen’s unusually bold dress and hat combination in a green so bright as to be almost fluorescent which caught the eye of many. ...

List of rogue landlords could help tenants vet their next home

Tenants could have access to a database of rogue landlords and letting agents, under a bill debated in the House of Lords on Friday. The Renters Rights Bill, introduced by Liberal Democrat Baroness Grender, proposes to ban letting agents fees and publish a public list of criminal landlords. It also proposes to ban rogue landlords from being able to own a house in multiple occupation (HMO), which is a property where more than two separate households share living space and facilities. Campaign group Generation Rent gathered in support of the Renters Rights Bill, which had its second House of Lords reading on Friday. Baroness Grender told The Debrief, an online magazine that has also been campaigning for renters’ rights, that the bill was intended to improve the quality of a...
