Twin car bombs in Syria kill nearly 50 in regime neighborhood in Homs

    Nearly 50 people have been killed and dozens injured in twin car bomb attacks in the central Syrian city of Homs. The terror attack comes as Russia and the regime continue an offensive.The powerful double blasts on Sunday sent up a billow of black smoke and scattered debris in Hom's Zahraa neighbourhood, where many of the residents are members of President Bashar al-Assad's Alawite sect. Initial reports from Syrian state television put the number of civilian deaths at 25, but that number quickly rose to at least 46 killed, according to a monitoring group.     A van driver on two mobile phones smashed into a family car and killed a mum-of-two who was on her way to a family funeral. Robert Munce, 47, was trying to undertake another vehicle when he smashed into the side of Peter Nile's Ford Focus - causing a six vehicle pile-up. Mr Nile was with his son Steven and wife Margaret, 65, when Munce swerved into them in his Ford Transit. The family on the way to a relative's funeral. Emergency services rushed to the A1 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, but tragically Margaret was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver Dies In Crash After Police Chase

    A driver has been killed and two women injured in a crash after a police car chase through Manchester. The Mercedes S320 being driven by the 24-year-old man had "made off from the patrol car at speed", according to police. Following a "short pursuit" through Old Trafford, the vehicle collided with a Mini at the junction of Chester Road and Warwick Road South before striking a barrier. The man died at the scene while the two women in the Mini were taken to hospital with multiple injuries. The collision, which took place at around 3.30am on Sunday, has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
