Shops and supermarkets underwater in UK as strong storms in September
After Britain basked in its hottest September day in 105 years parts of the UK saw the summer come to a dramatic end with flooding and lightning strikes.
Storms and heavy rain swept across the north of England, the Midlands and the South West bringing travel chaos and leaving some streets and shops submerged.
Some Birmingham-bound flights were diverted and while power blackouts in the city also saw Metro services cancelled.
Meanwhile, Manchester City's Champions League game against Borussia Mönchengladbach was postponed because of torrential rain in the area.
In nearby Ashton-under-Lyne, the aisles of an ASDA supermarket were filmed under inches of water as the store was evacuated.
