Dramatic moment German fighter jets intercept London

    This is the dramatic moment two German fighter jets intercepted a London-bound passenger plane after air traffic control failed to make contact with its pilot. The Eurofighter Typhoons were scrambled after the Jet Airways Boeing 777 aircraft lost contact with local air traffic control for a few minutes as it was crossing over Cologne. Video footage apparently taken from a British Airways plane travelling behind showed two fighter jets flying alongside a passenger plane above the clouds. The London-bound flight had 330 passengers and 15 crew on board and was flying from Mumbai to Heathrow. West Bengal observes International Mother Language Day

    The Indian state of West Bengal on Tuesday observed International Mother Language Day paying homage to those who laid down their lives for the cause of the Bengali language in Bangladesh in 1952. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter in Bengali, stressing the importance of each and every language. ‘Every language is equal. The mother tongue should be the medium to express one’s views. My respect to the martyrs,’ she said. Five die as plane crashes into Melbourne shopping centre

    Five people have been killed after a small plane crashed into a shopping centre near an airport north of Melbourne, Australia. The Beechcraft plane exploded on impact just before 9am local time, an hour before the Direct Factory Outlet shopping mall was due to open. Those killed reportedly include four US citizens.
