Lorry driver dies after crashing into lamppost in Lewisham during height of Storm Doris winds

A lorry driver has died after crashing into a lamppost on a busy south-east London road. The vehicle was left precariously balanced after the collision on Lewisham Way in New Cross at around 2.30pm on Thursday. Emergency services propped the lorry up with two metal poles to prevent strong winds from Storm Doris blowing it over. Police said it is under investigation whether the severe winds, which ripped out trees and caused transport chaos across London, played a part in the crash. However, it is not believed that another vehicle was involved. The driver, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. Road closures were put in place on Lewisham Way while emergency services dealt with the crash scene, near the jun...

Thrilling discovery of seven Earth sized planets orbiting nearby star

Nasa A huddle of seven worlds, all close in size to Earth, and perhaps warm enough for water and the life it can sustain, has been spotted around a small, faint star in the constellation of Aquarius. The discovery, which has thrilled astronomers, has raised hopes that the hunt for alien life beyond the solar system can start much sooner than previously thought, with the next generation of telescopes that are due to switch on in the next decade. It is the first time that so many Earth-sized planets have been found in orbit around the same star, an unexpected haul that suggests the Milky Way may be teeming with worlds that, in size and firmness underfoot at least, resemble our own rocky home. The planets closely circle a dwarf star named Trappist-1, which at 39 light years a...

Mexico will not accept Trump’s immigration plans

Mexico's Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray Mexico has indicated it would not accept the Trump administration’s new immigration proposals, saying it would go to the United Nations to defend the rights of immigrants in the US. Luis Videgaray, Mexico’s foreign minister, was responding to Donald Trump’s plans to enforce immigration rules more vigorously against undocumented migrants, which could lead to mass deportations to Mexico, not just of Mexicans but also citizens of other Latin American countries. We are not going to accept it because we don’t have to accept it, Videgaray said, according to the Reforma newspaper. I want to make clear, in the most emphatic way, that the government of Mexico and the Mexican people do not have to accept measures that one government wants to ...

The motorist, from West Yorkshire, was last given points for a speeding offence. But he kept his licence and is still able to drive, according to the BBC. A Freedom of Information request by BBC South East revealed there are around 10,000 motorists on Britain's roads who have 12 points or more on their licence. The majority have between 12 and 18 points, but 203 have more. In Essex a driver has 42 points, in Oxfordshire 51 and in Norfolk 39. David Nichols, of road saf...

What happens if Drink Lemon Water Every Day For 2 Weeks

Humans have been experimenting with tonics since the beginning of time. From the fountain of youth to alkaline water to kale juice, we’re always searching for that magic potion that will restore health and wellness, ward off illness, and make us look and feel 10 years younger. But what if that potion isn’t so mysterious? What if it’s just… lemon water? Lemon water has been touted as a health and wellness aid for years by some MDs, clean living advocates, and, of course, celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow. And unlike packaged juice cleanses that supposedly brighten your skin and age you backwards, lemon water won’t break the bank. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it seems safe (as long as you don’t try to exist on lemon water alone)—but does it really work wonders? Some proponents of le...

Donald Trump's poisonous campaign rhetoric exemplifies a global trend towards angrier and more divisive politics, Amnesty said in a statement issued in Paris. The world, it said, had become a darker ... unstable place, with a rise in hate speech targeting refugees across Europe and the United States. The early ind...
