The disgraced former mayor of Tower Hamlets is due to appear back at the Royal Courts of Justice – this time bringing his wife.
Lutfur Rahman, whose assets have been frozen after the High Court found him guilty of electoral fraud in April, was scheduled back in the dock on Wednesday, September 30, to argue over property ownership.
He and his wife argue that she is the beneficial owner of properties that have been linked to him, as part of an argument over retrieving court costs.
The original case, which was brought against Rahman and his election agent Alibor Choudhury this year, found them both guilty of electoral fraud during the 2014 Tower Hamlets mayoral election, which Rahman won.

The four voters who brought the case against Rahman expected their costs returned after Commissioner Richard Mawrey QC ruled against Rahman.
Andy Erlam, one of the petitioners, said: “Lutfur Rahman said before the election trial that he be-lieved in British justice. The High Court has ruled that he must pay all the costs on the Petitioners side amounting probably to about £500,000, so why six months later have we not been paid?
“We had no help from the Met police, indeed they obstructed the case. Their bill for £6,000 for duplicate fictional statements was thrown out by the judge.”
