Kim Wong returns 340 million taka


 

 

Filipino casino businessman Kim Wong has returned another portion of the stolen Bangladesh Bank reserve funds, a sum of 340 million Taka. He deposited equivalent in Filipino currency, 200 million Pesos, to Philippines Central Bank.

The discloser was made to Philippines Money Laundering Council at the 6th senate hearing today. Meanwhile, officials of Bangladesh Embassy to Philippines stated that the stolen funds must be retrieved from the country’s central bank through legal proceedings.

The officials said, the money would have been easier to recover if it was deposited to the account of the Bangladesh Embassy.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Philippines john Gomes said, the country’s government is providing its full support to Bangladesh in receiving the recovered funds in the quickest possible time.
