Thousands of leaders and activists of Awami League and members of its 14-party alliance are ready on the streets of Dhaka to greet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The reception has been arranged for the premier who will land at Dhaka’s Shahjajal International Airport after the two-week official visit abroad.
Political activists were seen standing on both sides of the road carrying welcome placards and party flags from the airport to Gono Bhaban waiting to cheer her back home.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will land at around 6:40pm by a flight of Emirates airlines,” Asif Kabir, assistant press secretary to the prime minister, told The Daily Star.
The 14-party supporters were also seen marching towards the airport on different modes of vehicles including bus and motorbike – chanting slogans on loudspeakers.
However, due to the mass reception arrangement, traffic was choked out through Airport and Mirpur roads causing gridlocks and sufferings for commuters.
