The French President is unfit to run a nation. He doesn’t have children

On Sunday, the French public made their call. Emmanuel Macron was to be their President complete with his centrist politics and desire to stay in the EU. The 39-year-old is married to wife Brigitte Trogneux and has been since 2007. He is a former investment banker, has dipped in and out of politics as both a Minister and member of staff and will be the youngest President in French history. But the French people are missing something. Isn’t ANYBODY paying attention? Macron doesn’t have any kids. Sure, he has a couple of step-children running around but he doesn’t have any of his own. I hate to be the bearer of bad news and s--- on the European Union while it’s already in the gutter, but can someone tell me what kind of future France has when their leader doesn’t know what i...

How President Trump’s Decision to Fire James Comey Could Backfire

President Donald Trump's decision to fire FBI Director James Comey rocked Washington on Tuesday, raising questions about the future of the investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia and potentially setting off a chain of events that could envelop his administration. Comey, whose investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server helped lift Trump into the White House, was leading the federal counterintelligence investigation into whether advisers to the President had sought to collude with Russian officials in their efforts to swing the 2016 election. The ouster of the nation's top cop prompted comparisons to Watergate, as Democrats pilloried Trump for sidelining the official overseeing a probe that could threaten his presidency. But the shock move is fraught ...

I had to get out or die: North Korean defector reveals brutal horrors of Kim Jong Un’s sadistic regime

Kim Chung-Seong’s life reads like the type of story found in the fiction section of a sadist’s library. By the age of 27 he had been brutally beaten, thrown in prison, left to starve, witnessed cold-blooded killings of children, forced into becoming a spy and left hours away from his own execution. But today, after an incredible escape from the clutches of North Korea ’s brutal regime, Chung-Seong thinks it is he who is the lucky one. For while he is now free from merciless Kim Jong-un , he lives in constant fear for the family and friends still hunted by the evil dictator’s army for his defection 13 years ago. The Kim regime never forgets, he says. The leadership may pass down from one generation to another but so does their evil. I saw first-hand how the most harrowing o...

Police detain Rohingya attempting boat trip to Malaysia

Bangladesh has arrested more than a dozen people from Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslim minority and two men accused of trying to smuggle them illegally into Malaysia by boat, police said on Wednesday. The two Bangladeshis were charged with people smuggling offences after arranging the trip to Malaysia, the first time in two years would-be migrants have attempted to journey there by boat, said Teknaf police chief Mainuddin Khan. ‘Acting on a tip-off, we arrested 19 Myanmar nationals from a house in Teknaf on Tuesday as they gathered there for a boat trip to Malaysia,’ Khan told AFP. ‘They said they paid Tk 10,000 ($125) each for the trip.’ Tens of thousands of Rohingya from Myanmar and Bangladeshi economic migrants seeking jobs have made the treacherous journey across the Bay of B...

News Brief: Bangladesh High Commission London

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said that there is freedom of speech in the country as the newspapers here are enjoying full freedom. "But all concerned will have to be responsible to enjoy this freedom. However, freedom doesn't mean to tarnish the rights of anybody," she said while delivering her winding up speech in the 15th session of the 10th Parliament. The Cabinet yesterday approved the amendments to a law allowing four members of the same family to sit on the board of a commercial bank. The amended law will also allow the directors of commercial banks to serve for three consecutive terms of three years each.
