China dismisses UN concerns over CPEC project

Chinese Foreign Ministry has strongly reacted over the report of the United Nations expressing concerns over the China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project. China has dismissed United Nations concerns on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chinese foreign ministry said. The report by UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Asia-Pacific (ESCAP), had warned that the CPEC could create tension with India and fuel political instability in the region. Describing the United Nations as a partner in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Beijing on Thursday dismissed the report, saying this report was not specifically on the CPEC and had evaluated the BRI in a very positive way. The report, issued on Tuesday, said the CPEC could lead to further political instability in the region a...

May puts Manchester bombing at heart of election with attack on Corbyn

Theresa May has launched an extraordinary attack on Jeremy Corbyn, accusing him of saying Britain is to blame for the Manchester Arena bombing in a war of words that places the atrocity at the heart of the election campaign. The prime minister used a press conference at the end of her first G7 summit to resume her election campaign by directly targeting the Labour leader after he had said the war on terror was not working. I have been here with the G7, working with other international leaders to fight terrorism, May told reporters. At the same time, Jeremy Corbyn has said that terror attacks in Britain are our own fault and he has chosen to do that a few days after one of the worst terrorist atrocities we have experienced in the United Kingdom. I want to make something cle...

Pippa Middleton takes legal action after wedding menus appear on eBay

Pippa Middleton has reportedly taken legal action after menus from her wedding appeared on eBay. The news broke earlier this week that some attendee had apparently decided to sell on copies of the menu from the lavish wedding. A seller with the username ‘guarko84na’ advertised two cards both sharing the feast on offer at the Berkshire nuptials. One card has ‘James Matthews’ at the top, while the other has ‘Pippa Matthews’, indicating guests were given a slightly different menu depending on whether they were a guest of the bride or the groom. The three course meal included Berkshire Mayfly Trout to start, with a lamb main course and Glen Affric Cranachan Cheesecake. The starter pays homage to Pippa’s parent’s home, where the reception was held, in Berkshire. The cheesecake ...
