I’m Britain’s most hated women

The 35-year-old Emmerdale actress also finally addressed claims made by her former soap co-stars , which she branded as devastating.

The interview was in stark contrast to her chat with Jeremy Vine , which viewers blasted for its softly softly approach.

On Monday, Emma was seen sitting down with Roxanne in a pre-recorded chat with the former CBB star.

Over the last few days, she faced the wrath of the public after saying Ryan had punched her five or six times and insisted that he had deliberately tried to hurt her.

Watching it feels like a completely different scenario to it was at the time, Roxanne replied, but Emma probed her on how two days later she still got it so wrong. Especially when she reenacted what had happened on Ben.

The former soap actress insisted that it had hurt, adding: I convinced myself he meant to do it.

But Emma then asked her why she gained that new perspective from watching it.

Because I saw what every single person saw and I don’t blame anyone for [criticising my actions], she said. I’m more shocked at myself more than anyone.

Over the last few days, Roxanne has faced the wrath of the public after saying Ryan had punched her five or six times.

She added: I have to think about why I used humour than something more serious happened in my mind.

Questioned why she hadn’t gone up to Ryan about the incident, she said: That’s something I’ve asked myself… I think it’s because I didn’t think he liked me… I convinced myself it was malice.

You could have ruined somebody, Emma responded.

I’m devastated, it cripples me with embarrassment, she said.

Asked whether she had reached out to Ryan’s family she said that she didn’t want to impose on them.

Emma pointed out that they deserved an apology, to which Roxanne pointed out that she gave them one during her interview earlier on Monday, adding: All I can do is apologise.

What did your family say? Emma asked.

Gutted for you? Emma said pointedly.

Gutted for the whole situation, Roxanne replied. My mum knows I’m sensitive.

Emma then brought up the fact that other co-stars she had worked with in the past had accused her of violence and asked what she would say to them. This includes Sam Attwater, who claimed she had hit him while they were touring with Rocky Horror together.

Devastating no one wants to hear that, she replied. Especially from people you worked with.

Emma asked: Do you deserve that title?

I’m going to try and own it and accept it, Roxanne said.

Asked whether she would forgive herself if she weren’t her, Roxanne replied before breaking into tears: I would want to.

This comes after Roxanne’s much-criticised interview with Jeremy Vine earlier on Monday, despite apologising to Ryan Thomas and his family.

Roxanne appeared on the Channel 5 show and admitted that she got it wrong after accusing the ex-Corrie star of deliberately punching her.

Appearing on Jeremy Vine on Channel 5, the former Emmerdale star said she overreacted to the situation because her insecurities were heightened and judgement was clouded in the house.

Roxy confessed she regrets using the word deliberate and that her reaction was a telltale sign of being a victim of domestic abuse.

However her former Emmerdale co-stars took to Twitter to blast her apology as lies, lies, lies.

Meanwhile Sammy Winward, who played Katie Sugden, tweeted: Lies lies lies.

Ryan’s brother Adam wrote: Jeremy Vine too scared to speak up too PC pathetic interview!!

To everyone that knows her and knows the real her and the lies and the stories she has spun for several years it is so frustrating to watch. Good scene tho Rox annnddddd cut!![sic].

Denise Welch, who previously appeared on Corrie, slammed the apology on Loose Women on Monday.

The panellist stood up for Ryan, calling him a gentleman, while slamming Roxanne’s apology on Jeremy Vine Show – and hinted there was yet more to come out about Roxy’s past behaviour.

She’s apologised because she was caught out, I feel very strongly about this, Denise fumed on the ITV chat show.

I haven’t seen the interview but there’s nothing she could say that would convince me it wasn’t the most horrific thing I’ve seen on television.

Denise went on: I’ve known Ryan for a long time and I’ve been in the CBB house I know how it can play with your head.
