Distribution of food through the Island Network in London Docklands


 

 

The Island Network, a London Docklands- based, a social organization based on the Tower Hamlets. whose main goal is to help people locally which providing assistance to pensioners, sick-elderly and poor residents especially in remote areas.

At present, volunteers from all mosques and community centers in the Millwall area (London Docklands) in the epidemic coronavirus to deal with have been helping local pensioners, sick and poor residents since the lockdown began.

For the past 5 weeks, volunteers have been active with their magnificent work, and so far the island network has distributed 320 food packs and 695 hot meals to about 110 residents.

Mafizur Rob, general secretary of the organization, said there are many misconceptions among Muslims, especially about youth, but Muslims are peaceable people. At present, irrespective of caste or creed, they have come forward with the help of needy people in their area.

The chairperson of the organization Md. Mayum Miah thanked, One Housing and Canary Wharf Group, with support for the funding, thanked the sponsors of the sponsored mosques; Westferry community masjid (WCO), Al Aqsa Mosque (Docklands), Millwall community association, Dawatul Islam Docklands branch, Muslim community association (Poplar and docklands muslim society), Dockland community organisation (DCO)  and their committee members who have worked diligently in this magnificent work.
