Stress at work: 8 signs you are suffering

A little bit of stress at work is good for you, but there is absolutely no health benefit to being too stressed at work. That's the view of Joan Kingsley, a consultant clinical and organisational therapist. Kingsley spent 25 years researching workplace psychology and co-authored a book, 'The Fear-free Organization: Vital Insights from Neuroscience to Transform Your Business Culture'. She has come up with eight signs that you are suffering from stress at work, and what to do about it. "You have to think about what kind of person you are and if you normally get stressed. For instance, I work well under pressure. If I have a deadline, I work best when the deadline is approaching. Some people need to plan more ahead of time," Kingsley said. She said that a little bit of stress...

A man has been charged over a string of sex assaults against women in south London, police have said. Scotland Yard charged Mehdi Midani, 24, of no fixed abode, with six counts of sexual assault and two counts of exposure following the alleged attacks in Clapham and Brixton between October 22and 31. Midani, who was arrested on Monday in the Brixton Hill area, will appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court today. Nine women have been attacked in a series of incidents in Clapham and Brixton in the last month which police believe are linked. Officers have arrested three other men in connection with the assaults and warned women to be "vigilant" after nine women, aged between 23 and 35, were attacked. Avocado Prices Are Set To Rise: This Is Not A Drill

Brace yourselves fellow avocado fans, we have some rather distressing news. According to a new report in trade magazine The Grocer, the price of avocados in set to soar due to high demand and lack of supply. The report states that sales of avocados are up by as much as 25% since last year in the UK. At the same time, avocado producers in the Mediterranean have been hit by El Nino - the weather pattern that causes adverse conditions such as colder winters - which has made production more difficult. Sandra Kajda, category buyer for fruit and vegetable supplier Reynolds, told the magazine the poor weather could cause production to fall by 30% this year, which will only increase prices further. She added that high demand for avocados was down to the fact that the fruit has bec...

11 things about Britain that foreigners get totally wrong

Like every country, Britain has its own culture that's best experienced firsthand. But novelties such as the Royal Family and "Downton Abbey" have somewhat skewed perceptions of what Britain and its culture are really like. So when one Quora user asked, "What are some things foreigners believe about England that the English know are laughably way off?" we couldn't resist putting together a list of the best answers, as well as some of our own 1. British dentistry isn't that bad. Everyone from "The Simpsons" to "Austin Powers" has made reference to Britain's supposedly disastrous dentistry. But OECD figures revealed that the average number of missing teeth for a 12-year-old in the UK was 0.7, one of the best ratings in the world. In the US, it was 1.3. Another study by the O...

Lady Hitler Hasina running Bangladesh and murdered Innocent Army Officers

Khaleda Zia has launched a scathing attack on the ruling Awami League, saying it has turned Bangladesh a monarchy. The BNP chairperson made the remark in her address to a public meeting organised by the party’s UK chapter at Park Plaza Riverbank London hotel on Sunday evening (local time). Without naming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, she said, Bangladesh is now a monarchy. There is Lady Hitler for this monarchy. Because all her soldiers, I mean the administration, are only carrying out her orders. Everything is done on her order, she added. Khaleda also slammed the government for the law and order situation. The people of Bangladesh are not well today. They are not in peace. Harassments are crossing the limit everyday, Khaleda said. Her son and Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique...

Foreigners may be charged for A&E treatment under new proposals

Jeremy Hunt, the health secretary, is considering whether to charge foreigners for using ambulances and visiting A&E in a move that could further escalate tensions with the medical profession. In a bid to raise money, Hunt is expected to announce a consultation within the next month on whether the NHS should charge patients from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for emergency treatment. While no one would be denied urgent care, hospitals would be allowed to withhold treatment for non-urgent medical problems until a payment was made. Patients from inside the EEA would have to present their European Health Insurance card to receive treatment, and their government would be sent a bill. Under the proposals, there would be certain exemptions on charging up front, suc...

UK weather: Hottest ever November on way as Halloween heatwave to be followed by 21.7C Sunday

Hot air from Portugal is bringing the out-of-season sizzle, which will make the UK hotter than the Mediterranean. Highs of 21C are expected on Saturday and “exceptionally mild” sunshine in the ¬afternoon, forecasters said. The balmy weather – 6C above average – is set to continue throughout the week with settled conditions in the south and east of England. The predictions would make today the second-hottest Halloween, behind last year’s high of 23.6C at Kew Gardens, London, and Gravesend, Kent. British Weather Services senior meteorologist J...

Why 5+5+5 doesn’t always make 15: Maths exam question divides the internet

Why 5+5+5 doesn’t always make 15: Working out the answer to 5x3 may seem simple enough but the solution one student gave has sparked an online debate. The maths question, which asks pupils to work out 5x3 using the repeated addition strategy, was posted on Reddit. View post on imgur.com A Year 3 pupil was marked down for the solution written out for 5x3 It shows a Year 3 pupil being marked down for the solution 5+5+5, with the teacher noting the correct working out should be shown as 3+3+3+3+3.
