Here’s Why You Should Stop Buying Green Bell Peppers

Have you ever noticed how green bell peppers cost less at the grocery store? Often they’ll be priced a full dollar below red, yellow, or orange peppers. What gives? Unfortunately you’re not getting a great deal – there’s a method in the madness. A surplus of green peppers, perhaps? Well, kind of. Green bell peppers are actually just unripe red peppers. Here’s how bell peppers mature: they start out as green, first turn yellow (or orange), then become fully mature as they turn red. Mind. Blown. Green peppers take significantly less time to grow due to earlier harvesting, and therefore typically cost a dollar less at the grocery store. North Korea test fires missiles in defiance of UN sanctions

North Korea has test-fired two mid-range ballistic missiles from its eastern coast, says South Korea. The first launch was considered to have failed, travelling about 150km (90 miles) before landing in the sea. The second, launched hours later, flew about 400km. Military officials in the South said both were intermediate-range Musudan missiles. A confirmed successful test would mark a step forward for North Korea after four failed launches in recent months. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said Seoul and the US were "carrying out an in-depth analysis" of the second launch, and did not say whether it was considered a success. North Korea, which is developing nuclear weapons, is banned by UN resolutions from any use of ballistic missile technology. South Korea's president...

Ellie Butler judge took unwarranted steps to reunite her with violent parents

A senior judge in the family court took “unwarranted” extra steps in reuniting a man with a violent and criminal past with his young daughter 11 months before he beat her to death, the author of a serious case review has said. Mrs Justice Hogg, who retired just weeks before Ben Butler’s murder trial began at the Old Bailey, has been heavily criticised in the official review of events in the run-up to six-year-old Ellie Butler’s death in 2013. Ellie Butler’s grandfather: ‘She told us that she loved us. That was the last time we saw her’ Her father was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, and his partner Jennie Gray was given 42 months for child cruelty and for her part in a “cynical” and “calculated” coverup of their daughter’s death and their fake 999 call two hours aft...
