Michelle Obama takes swipe at Donald Trump rare

Donald Trump has taken a rare swipe at Michelle Obama, accusing her of criticising his rival Hillary Clinton. The presidential candidate has avoided directly hitting out at the first lady for much of the race. But at a campaign rally in North Carolina, Mr Trump had a change of heart. He accused Mrs Obama of attacking his rival during the 2008 primaries. He said she was alluding to Mrs Clinton when she said that if you "can't run your own house," you can't run the White House. UK Border plans to withdraw from the fight says PM Theresa May

Theresa May's office has strongly rejected the suggestion from French presidential candidate Alain Juppé that the border for migrants could be moved from Calais to the southeast coast of England. Juppé, the current favourite to succeed current presiden François Hollande, said he wanted a total revision of the Le Touquet treaty, the bilateral agreement which means border checks take place on the French side of the channel. "We can’t tolerate what is going on in Calais, the image is disastrous for our country and there are also extremely serious economic and security consequences...

They took the precaution after the wind blew smoke from the fire towards Qayyarah air field. In Baghdad, Turkish attempts to join the offensive against IS were rebuffed. Meanwhile, advancing Iraqi forces entered the town of Qaraqosh, 32km (20 miles) south of Mosul, the IS capital. Qaraqosh, Iraq's largest Christian town before the war, is said to be largely empty but IS has laid landmines on the approaches to Mosul. The militants have been attacking with suicide bombers elsewhere, driving vehicles laden with explosives at high speed towards government lines. Media captionThousands of people ha...
