Russia accuses Britain of anti Putin witch hunt plan

Russia has accused Britain of preparing an official witch-hunt against president Vladimir Putin's administration amid panic and hysterics over a loss of control in Europe. The Russian embassy to Britain posted online an extraordinary attack on the Government, accusing it of planning to brief Donald Trump's incoming United States administration against Moscow. It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May prepares for her first meeting with the US president-elect, expected in the spring, and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said Russia was up to all sorts of very dirty tricks such as cyber warfare. The embassy also speculated that the Government was seeking to rerun the Brexit referendum by claiming it was tainted by Russian influence and attacked the British intelligence services....

Morocco bans production and sale of burqas

A file photo shows a woman wearing a niqab walks on the snow at the Oukaimeden ski resort, in the Atlas Mountains, 30 kilometres from the popular tourist resort of Marrakesh. Morocco has banned the production and sale of burqa full-face Muslim veils, apparently for security reasons, media reports said on Tuesday. While there was no official announcement by authorities in the North African nation, the reports said the interior ministry order would take effect this week. We have taken the step of completely banning the import, manufacture and marketing of this garment in all the cities and towns of the kingdom, the Le360 news site quoted a high-ranking interior ministry official as saying. It said the measure appeared to be motivated by security concerns, since bandits have ...

37 Crown Post Offices to be closed soon across the UK

The Post Office is to close and franchise a further 37 Crown offices with a loss of around 300 staff. Some 127 financial specialist roles will also be cut, said the Communication Workers Union. Dave Ward, General Secretary of the CWU, said: the latest round of closures is further evidence that the Post Office is in crisis and that the board of the company, backed by the government, is simply pursuing a strategy of slash and burn. Today’s announcement comes less than three weeks after the closure of a major government consultation on the future of the Post Office and sticks two fingers up to everyone who took part in this. The union has staged strikes in protest at the closure of Crown Post Offices - the larger branches usually sited on high streets. A colourful protest was...

Top secret report claims: Russians have compromising personal information about Donald Trump

A former British spy reportedly tipped off US intelligence that Russian operatives are claiming to have compiled compromising information about Donald Trump, it emerged on Tuesday night. The claims that Russia has potentially damaging information about Mr Trump were included in an addendum to a top secret report presented last week to the president-elect and to President Barack Obama, according to CNN. According to the report, the British source informed the US that Russian operatives were claiming to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr Trump. The FBI is now investigating the veracity of the Russian claims. While intelligence sources told CNN they consider the former British agent’s past work credible, doubts were raised after Buzzfeed News publis...
