The Cabinet yesterday approved the draft of Urban and Zone Planning Bill, 2017 aimed at bringing discipline in land management and restricting the misuse of land in the country.
The Cabinet gave the approval in principle at its regular weekly meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal for the inclusion of the 25th March in the Class ‘Ka’ of the circular issued by the Cabinet Division that declared the Day as the Mass Killing Day.
The Cabinet also approved in principle the draft of ‘The Textile Act, 2017’, ‘The Expatriate Welfare Board Act, 2017’ and ‘The Pesticides Bill, 2017’.

The government has taken a project involving Taka 182 crore to preserve 360 historical places of the Liberation War aimed at letting the new generation know the glory and facts of the history of 1971 war. The government will also set up Muktijuddha Smriti Jadughar (Liberation War Memorial Museum) at each of the 360 historical sites. The project is expected to be completed by June 2019.
