Melania came first in public appearance after few weeks

Melania Trump has made her first public appearance in nearly a month but blink and you’ll miss her brief showing.

On Monday, the First Lady finally was spotted at a White House event for the families of US Army veterans, marking her first engagement since May 10.

Concern for the Slovenian-born former model grew after being absent from the public gaze for over 24 days.

The unusual saga promoted a flurry of rumours amongst the Washington DC commentators.

White House staff said on May 14 that Melania had undergone surgery for a kidney condition that typically requires just 24 hours of recuperation.

However, some of that speculation has now been put to bed after footage of her and the back of her head – emerged on social media.

A leaked video shows Melania as she makes her way through the White House, accompanied by President Trump.

The brief ten-second clip shows only part of her face.

Today’s event was being held in honour of fallen Gold Star veterans who died while serving in combat roles for the US military.

Press involvement for the event was kept to a bare minimum and White House reporters were barred from getting in.

Earlier, The White House has released a statement from Mrs Trump about the occasion:

Gold Star families have lost an immediate family member who was serving during wartime, and they are a unique and distinct category of individuals who should be cherished.

These families have endured the ultimate in pain and sacrifice on behalf of our country, and I am honored to have spent the evening with them.

My husband and I commit to always pay tribute to our active service military, veterans, and the families who love them.

Over the weekend it was reported Mrs Trump would not join husband Donald Trump at his Camp David retreat and is also not expected to join him for the G7 summit in Canada later in the week.
