Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs said:

“We are very fortunate to have such an active and diverse voluntary and community sector working across the borough to provide support and activities for thousands of residents and local groups.

“This fair is a great opportunity to see the wide variety of volunteering opportunities available, and I strongly encourage people to head over to the PDC and get volunteering this summer.”

Councillor Candida Ronald, Tower Hamlets Cabinet Member for Resources and the Voluntary Sector said:

“The recent Big Clean Up events were a great example of how local people are committed to giving up some of their spare time to improve their local environment and to make the borough a better place to live.

“Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, to use your skills to make a positive difference in your community, and it’s also great fun too.  We have some fantastic volunteering work going on across the borough – here’s your chance to be part of it.”

Catherine Bavage, Volunteer Centre Tower Hamlets Chief Executive said:

“Volunteering Fairs are fantastic. People interested in volunteering can speak directly to local charities, and ask questions to find the right volunteering role for them.

“It’s great for local charities too; the feedback from them has been overwhelmingly positive, in many cases exceeding expectations in terms of numbers of volunteers coming forward and the skills the volunteers were able to offer.”
