John Biggs re-elected executive Mayor for the second time at Tower Hamlets


 

 

London borough of Tower hamlets where the Bangladeshi population area is always critics and crises locally.

Now this time it was notdifferent even in the local government election. After much speculation and long expectations, finally the Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets has elected Mayor candidate of Labour Party John Biggs.

The newly elected Executive Mayor John Biggs received 3,7619 votes. Rabina Khan of People’s Alliance of Tower Hamlets is in second place as her nearest rival of the election. His vote is 13113 and in third place is Ohid Ahmad of Aspier. He got 11109 votes. Anowara Ali of the Conservative Party got 6149.

Counting of votes is going on in the second step. Then will be the results of several borough councilors. According to different sources, in this election, 81,252 voters voted between 1m 91 thousand and 246 voters. Of these, 19 to 83 votes were cast in the ballot. The vote was 41.96 percent.

The second choice was counted as no candidate received 51 percent of the votes received. In that case, John Biggs was elected the new mayor again by adding the first choice vote to the Chief Contestant, John Biggs and Rabina Khan, who won the second choice vote.

It is to be mentioned that in 2010, for the first time at the Tower hamlet council, the Mayoral election is held. At that time, standing in the election as the independent candidate, former Labor councilor and Leader Lutfur Rahman was elected 23,332 votes. His vote was 51.76 pentant.

Lutfur Rahman was elected the Mayor for the second time in 2014 again. However, in the year 2015, he was removed from the post of Mayor in court for various charges. In the same year, John Biggs was elected Mayor of the elections. His closest competitor was Rabina Khan, supported by ex Mayor Lutfur Rahman. In the last election, John Biggs received 40 percent of the vote. And Rabina Khan got 37.81 percent votes.
