Putin’s shirtless pictures viral: what did the Russian president do (video)

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Siberian getaway dominated his homeland’s news agenda over the weekend, his torso already earning plaudits from the tabloid press, as well as comparisons to fictional adventurer Indiana Jones. The politician’s topless photos of his fishing trip to Tuva, was reminiscent of Harrison Ford’s indomitable adventurer and conqueror of hearts, Moscow tabloid, Moskovskiy Komsomolets wrote Sunday. The images, released by the state-run TV channels, harkened back to 2007 when Putin first famously strode around the same rural idyll, baring his chest by the Siberian lakeside. Russians were able to arrive at the conclusion that in the 10 years passed since the analogous photoshoot, their president has not changed a bit and is totally capable to plow on l...

UK not willing to pay €40bn Brexit divorce bill as 10 Downing Street denies

Downing Street has dismissed the idea of paying a Brexit divorce bill of up to €40bn (£36bn), as leading supporters of leaving the EU said they would not accept handing over such a large sum. Theresa May was reported on Sunday to be willing to pay that amount as the price for getting on with trade talks and an exit deal. The sum would be a compromise, because Brussels has demanded about €60bn. The €40bn figure would still be the equivalent of several years of contributions to the EU budget, which would continue to be paid after Britain leaves the EU in March 2019. A Downing Street source, however, said the figure, which was mentioned by Brussels sources quoted in the Sunday Telegraph, was inaccurate speculation, playing down the idea that such a high bill would be acceptab...

The Driver taken to Hospital after stabbed in Bethnal Green: Police hunting Motorist who dragged the driver

Police are hunting three men who dragged a motorist from a car in broad daylight in Bethnal Green and stabbed him. The man fled from the Audi and was chased along Old Bethnal Green Road by the traffic lights with Cambridge Heath Road as other motorists watched in horror. I saw the man being chased with blood on his back, an eye-witness. It looked like he had been slashed with a meat cleaver. It was a shock to see this in broad daylight on a busy road with so much traffic around. The gang didn’t care who saw them. Police arrived after several 999 calls following the attack at 7.30pm last Friday when witnesses said the car was attacked with a sledge hammer. The driver, in his 20s, was taken to hospital with stab wounds, but not thought to be life-threatening. Detectives from...

North Korea vows revenge against the US in response new UN sanctions

North Korea vowed Monday to bolster its nuclear arsenal and launch thousands fold revenge against the United States in response to tough U.N. sanctions imposed after its recent intercontinental ballistic missile launches. The warning came two days after the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved new sanctions to punish North Korea, including a ban on coal and other exports worth over $1 billion. The U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, called the U.S.-drafted resolution the single largest economic sanctions package ever leveled against North Korea. In a statement carried by state media, the North Korean government said the sanctions were a violent infringement of its sovereignty that was caused by a heinous U.S. plot to isolate and stifle North Korea. It said the ...

US mosques attack is more threatening than threats

The Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in suburban Minneapolis, like other U.S. mosques, occasionally receives threatening calls and emails. Its leaders say they're more frightened now after an explosive shattered windows and damaged a room as worshippers prepared for morning prayers. We feel like it's much deeper and scarier than like something random, Mohamed Omar, the center's executive director, said Sunday. It's so scary. No one was hurt in the blast, which happened around 5 a.m. Saturday. Windows of the imam's office were shattered, either by what the FBI called an improvised explosive device or by an object thrown through them. The FBI is seeking suspects and trying to determine whether the incident was a hate crime. Gov. Mark Dayton joined other public officials and comm...
