Have you suffer restless leg syndrome

There's probably at least one person in your office who taps their foot or shakes their leg incessantly while they work maybe it's you. Indeed, some people concentrate better when they're able to fidget. And while restless leg syndrome sounds like it could explain this type of behaviour, it's actually something completely different. Restless leg syndrome is a neurological condition, which means any sensations it causes happen in the brain more than in the legs themselves. And while it is defined by an irresistible urge to move the legs, according to Andy Berkowski, MD, a clinical assistant professor of neurology and sleep medicine at the University of Michigan Department of Neurology, it's not related to a general inability to sit still. If you're sitting at your desk for ...

Dubai Police test its flying motorbike

Dubai Police, already home to Lamborghini patrol cars, self-driving robots and android officers, has decided to take to the skies in what can only be described as a flying motorbike. The vehicle, called the Scorpion and designed by Russian tech company Hoversurf, relies on four propellers to stay airborne, with the rider crouched precariously close to the exposed blades. Capable of 40 mph and a travel time of 25 minutes, the single-seat craft, which can carry 600 lbs, can also operate autonomously. After appearing at tech shows earlier this year, Dubai Police has decided to add one to its list of cutting-edge gadgets, all part of the force's "smart city" plans.According to the Facebook page of Hoversurf CEO Alexander Atamanov, the company has signed a memorandum of underst...

Self employed threatens to engulf the government’s UC reforms

A hidden raid on the self-employed threatens to engulf the government’s Universal Credit reforms in further scandal, as hard-working traders see their incomes hit by hundreds of pounds a year. Critics have lined up to slam changes to in-work benefits like tax credits, which are now impacting some of the 800,000 strivers who, according to an influential think tank, will eventually be required to move onto the new system. As part of the move, little-known rules will hit sole traders, including window cleaners and hairdressers, to the tune of £1.5bn by 2022, figures from the Office for Budget Responsibility reveal, meaning it could cost some claimants as much as £1,500 a year. The flagship welfare reform has already been plagued by problems, including a perilous six week stal...

Cambridge University bans Arabic students travelling to Palestine

The decision comes after a number of Cambridge students travelling there were either interrogated or deported by Israeli security. The Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip have been occupied by the Israeli state since the Six Day War of 1967. Five students, four female and one male, faced difficulties when landing at Ben-Gurion Airport, in Tel-Aviv, throughout the 2016/17 academic year. They are required as part of their course of study to spend eight months in a country where their chosen discipline is the first language. Due to the instability of many Middle Eastern states, the choices available to Arabic students are relatively limited, with the majority opting for Egypt and Jordan. Most travelling to study in Palestine undertake an Arabic languag...

On final Brexit deal: Labour to work with Tory rebels in bid to get Commons vote

Labour will join forces with Tory rebels in an attempt to force Theresa May into giving MPs a veto on the final Brexit deal, Sir Keir Starmer has said. The shadow Brexit secretary demanded six changes to the paused repeal bill, formally known as the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill, including Parliament being given final approval of the exit agreement. Sir Keir said the Government has unexpectedly withheld the legislation from the House of Commons for two weeks running because it fears defeat on at least 13 amendments at the hands of Tory rebels.
